VOLLEYBALL: CB West, Pennsbury advance to district title game

The Central Bucks West boys volleyball team took over Pennridge’s spot atop the Suburban One Continental Conference this season. Tuesday night, the Bucks ended the Rams’ reign as District One champions.

Mike Fehrs finished with a match-high 25 kills as No. 2 seed West dropped the opening game, but kept third-seeded Pennridge at bay in the final three to earn a 3-1 victory – 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 – in the Class AAA semifinals at William Tennent High School.

“Going into the season we knew they were going to be our hardest matchup. And every time that we played them, it was a blast,” Fehrs said. “It’s a great rivalry. There was so much energy on the court. They’re a great team, luckily we just came out with more energy and we able get more balls up.”

Christian Rupert and Joel Klapper has 12 and 11 kills, respectively, for the Bucks, who advance to Thursday’s final — 7:30 p.m. back at Tennent — to faced top-seeded Pennsbury, which topped No. 5 North Penn 3-1 — 25-11, 25-10, 23-25, 25-15 — in the second semifinal Tuesday.
