BASEBALL: Blough pitches Plumstead Christian past Christopher Dock

For Montgomery Media / MARK C. PSORAS Christopher Dock's Derek Cassell applies a late tag on Plumstead Christian's Max Drake as he steals second during Tuesday's District One Class A playoff game.
The strong right arm of Ryan Blough lifted Plumstead Christian to its first district playoff victory Tuesday, a 5-1 upset win over third-seeded Christopher Dock.

"I was just battling, kept pounding the strike zone," Blough said. "I didn’t really have it in the beginning, but I just battled through it, kept my composure. I stayed positive throughout and it worked out."

Blough’s slider kept the Pioneers off balance all afternoon, limiting them to just a single unearned run and five hits. He struck out seven batters in a performance that pushed the sixth-seeded Panthers into the District One Class A semifinals and a matchup with Calvary Christian.
