SOFTBALL: Hatters topple injury-plagued Maidens

This has not been the season that many were expecting for North Penn softball.

In 2012, the Maidens rolled through the season, finishing 9-5 in the Suburban One Continental Conference and 18-8 overall including a District One title. They lost only catcher Jess Mower from their starting lineup.

But things aren’t the same this year.

Injuries have taken their toll. Right now, North Penn has several players out with concussions, starting first baseman Vicky Tumasz is on the shelf with an injured hamstring and Hannah Sheehan injured her right shoulder in the latest game.

Things didn’t get any better on Tuesday when Hatboro-Horsham came to the Maidens’ home field. The Hatters pounded out an 11-5 victory.
