SOFTBALL: Christoffers keys Maidens' win over Garnet Valley

For Montgomery Media / GEOFF PATTON Becky Christoffers scores for North Penn in second inning of Monday's District One Class AAAA playoff game against Garnet Valley.
This hasn’t been an easy road for Becky Christoffers to travel.

First, the North Penn sophomore was being asked to replace the lone graduate from the 2012 District One championship team, catcher Jess Mower. Then, she took a foul ball off her mask and suffered a concussion, which put her on the bench for a while.

“It was really tough (sitting on the bench with a concussion), considering we weren’t playing our game,” Christoffers said. “And we had a couple more players out like Vicky (Tumasz) and Melissa (Fasick) and now we have Hannah (Sheehan) out. Now we’re more like a team again.”

Well, Christoffers is back and she more than proved her worth Monday, going 2-for-2 with three runs batted in and one run scored as the Maidens opened their defense of the district crown with a 7-4 win over Garnet Valley.
