BASEBALL: Wissahickon upends Upper Moreland

For Montgomery Media / RICK KAUFFMAN Randy Frankenfield delivers a pitch during Monday's Suburban One American Conference win over Upper Moreland.
The pressure couldn’t have been greater for Wissahickon. After a tough loss to Norristown on Friday, the Trojans’ game on Senior Day against top-ranked Upper Moreland meant their season. They did their job however, knocking off the Bears —the Suburban One’s only undefeated team.

Both with seven wins apiece in Suburban One American, Norristown played second-place Cheltenham at the same time Wissahickon played its final home game of the season. While a victory did not guarantee playoff entry, a loss meant certain death.

“We still have a mathematical chance of getting into the playoffs, but that would be impossible without a win today,” Wissahickon coach Shannon Gunby said.
