GIRLS LACROSSE: Shorthanded Upper Dublin stuns North Penn

For Montgomery Media / MARK C. PSORAS Upper Dublin goalie Sarah Gallagher is mobbed by teammates as the Cardinals upended North Penn in District One Class AAAA playoff action Tuesday.
Draw control was never more crucial than in the final minutes of the District One Class AAAA girls lacrosse first-round game between North Penn and Upper Dublin on Tuesday.

Clinging on to an 8-7 lead, the 15th-seeded Maidens needed to make a few more stops over the last two minutes to end the 18th-seeded Flying Cardinals’ seasons. However, the Redbirds really wanted to give two of their sidelined starters a chance to return from injury and play at least one more game.

The Cardinals were short a few players because of a minor car accident the night prior, but not short of determination. With two goals in the final 24 seconds the Suburban One American Conference champs defeated North Penn 9-8.
