SOFTBALL: Springfield steps up to topple Upper Dublin

Montgomery Media / BOB RAINES Upper Dublin's Ashleigh Sharp steals second base as the throw to Springfield's Brianna Littlepage is too high and too late during Tuesday's Suburban One American Conference action.
One of the biggest stories in sports this year was how the Louisville men’s basketball team rallied around a horrific injury suffered by guard Kevin Ware. In the sixth inning of Tuesday’s Suburban One American Conference matchup between Upper Dublin and Springfield saw a similar example.

With the scored tied at 6-6, a play at the plate saw Spartans catcher Jewell Ringgold suffer a severe arm injury that caused her to be taken off the field in an ambulance. By the look on the faces of players on both teams, finishing the game seemed to be the last thing on their minds.

Springfield would respond by putting up four runs in the top of the eighth inning and won the game 10-7 in extra innings.
