BASEBALL: Indians topple struggling Hamels, Phils

PHILADELPHIA – When Cole Hamels is going right, his delivery hums like the engine in a fine piece of German machinery, so fluid it brings envy from peers and spoils the audience.

That is why it was so strange to see the southpaw fumbling with the wrench out there Wednesday afternoon. A lack of run support and some shortcomings of his own has messed with Hamels’ coronation as the Phillies’ No. 1 and most highly compensated starting pitcher.

It didn’t get better Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park. In fact, it seemed to get worse.
