BOYS LACROSSE: Costello leads Upper Moreland past ANC

Montgomery Media / SCOTT ROMAN Academy New Church's Jay Eiben fires a shot on goal while Upper Moreland's Torin Grumm tries to defend during Wednesday’s non-league game.
With Upper Moreland having an up-and-down season thus far, and sitting at .500 overall, senior Billy Costello wanted to make sure the Bears took advantage of the out-of-conference opponent which they had on the schedule on Wednesday afternoon.

And thanks to a huge first half by Costello, as well as teammate junior Dalton Pickersgill, the Bears now have a winning record.

The Upper Moreland senior scored twice in the first quarter and assisted on another goal to help the Bears to an early 3-1 lead after 12 minutes of play. By the end of the contest, Costello and Pickersgill had combined to tally nine goals and five assists to help the Bears to a 15-9 win over host Academy New Church in a non-league afternoon meeting.

The win moved the Bears to 8-7 overall, with the final stretch of the season upon them.
