SOFTBALL: St. Basil battles past Cheltenham
If St. Basil is going to have any success in next week’s district playoffs, a pitching performance like the one it got from sophomore Nicole Eberhard against Cheltenham on Wednesday would be a good place to start.
Eberhard struck out six batters while allowing just one walk, three hits and one unearned run en route to a complete game win in what was a 3-1 victory for St. Basil over the Lady Panthers in a non-league afternoon meeting at Cheltenham High School.
With only one game remaining until the playoffs, St. Basil (12-6, 9-4 AACA) is getting ready for some tough competition, and coach Steve Sonneborn was impressed with what he saw on Wednesday.
