BASEBALL: Picard cycles La Salle past Wood
Joe Picard, leadoff man for La Salle, hit for the cycle on Friday in an 11-8 victory over Archbishop Wood in the second round of the Philadelphia Catholic League playoffs.
“He did a pretty good job, yeah,” coach Joe Parisi said. “He did about everything you could ask from him.”
Picard sat mostly on the sidelines watching the La Salle baseball team (16-5) win a state championship in 2012. With seven talented seniors there really wasn’t a place for him on the field. But he watched and learned and looked forward to the opportunity to prove himself as an everyday player.
