SOFTBALL: Wissahickon blanks Gwynedd Mercy Academy
Since runs are hard to come by in a pitcher’s duel, both teams involved need to find some way to push girls across the plate. Wissahickon simply did a better job of that in its non-league win over Gwynedd Mercy Academy on Monday.
The Trojans got a complete game, three-hit shutout from Emma Goodrich en route to a 2-0 slim victory over GMA. Despite Monarchs’ starter Anna Gillespie’s equally impressive performance, Wissahickon scrapped two runs across in the fifth inning to gain a confidence-building win on the road.
