SPORTS WRAP: April 16

Girls’ lacrosse

Upper Dublin 14, Upper Merion 7 – Upper Dublin’s Julie Cross recorded five goals and five assists in a 14-7 win for the Lady Cardinals over Upper Merion in a Suburban One American Conference meeting on Tuesday. Taylor D’Ginto and Rachel DiFrangia each scored four goals for the Lady Cardinals, while Samantha Boyd scored once. D’Ginto also added three assists, while Sarah Gallagher stopped a career high 12 shots in net to earn the win.

Wissahickon 18, Upper Moreland 4 - Laura Frankenfield scored seven goals and Zoe Gomez added four goals and an assist as the Trojans rolled past the Bears.

Souderton 18, Pennridge 12—Amber Lambeth and Natalie Bulgier both scored six goals as Souderton bested Pennridge in a SOL Continental contest Monday.

The Indians got two goals each from Nikki Palmer and Chessie Rehmer, while Palmer hamded out five assists.

Wissahickon 16, Springfield (M) 5—Lauren Irvine scored five times, while Zoe Gomez had four goals and two assists as Wissahickon topped Springfield (Montco) in an SOL American matchup Monday.

Lauren Frankenfield collected two goals and five assists for the Trojans (6-1).

Boys’ lacrosse

Academy New Church 11, George School 4 – Academy New Church received five goals and one assist from Justin Cole as the Lions defeated the George School 11-4 on Tuesday. Jay Eiben and Jesse Frazier each scored twice, while Landon Elder and Thorne Pendleton added one goal apiece. Frazier also tallied an assist for ANC, which scored four goals in the first quarter, two in the second and five in the third.

Methacton 10, Owen J. Roberts 9 (OT) – Keith White scored his third goal of the day with a minute, 52 seconds remaining in overtime to give Methacton a 10-9 win over Owen J. Roberts on Tuesday. Luke Herber led the Warriors with three goals and three assists, while goalkeeper Jake Blitzer stopped 15 shots. Methacton improved to 6-4 (5-2 Pac-10) with the win.

Penn Charter 6, Germantown Academy 3 – The Patriots led 2-0 at the half, but Penn Charter scored four times in the third quarter and left with a 6-3 win over Germantown Academy on Tuesday afternoon. Ted Arsenault, James Diver and Robby Barnett each tallied goals for the Patriots, while Diver and Max Derham each added assists. Ian Davies stopped seven shots in net for GA.

Boys’ tennis

William Tennent 5, Souderton 2 – William Tennent defeated Souderton 5-2 in a non-league match at William Tennent High School on Monday night.

Boys’ track

Haverford School 69.5, Germantown Academy 52.5 – Haverford School visited Germantown Academy and came out with a 69.5-52.5 win on Tuesday afternoon. For the Patriots, Earl Edwards won the 100, 200 and 400 meter events, running times of 11.6, 23.22 and 51.68 seconds, respectively. Matt Miller won the 300 meter hurdles in 42.88 seconds and tied for the pole vault lead, clearing 13 feet.

Souderton 86, Central Bucks East 64 – Souderton defeated Central Bucks East, 86-64, marking the first time in at least five years that the Indians have defeated CB East. The Indians improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Suburban One Continental Conference with the victory.

Germantown Academy 102, Baldwin School 13 – Fran Sweeney won both the 100-meter run and 300-meter hurdles while helping Germantown Academy to a 102-13 win over visiting Baldwin School on Tuesday. Kiernan McCloskey won the 200 meter and triple jump events for the Lady Patriots, while Megan McCloskey won the high jump while setting a personal best with a jump of 17’6”. Kerry Lawlor also helped GA’s overall score by winning the 1600 meter run with a time of five minutes and 21 seconds.

Baseball

Archbishop Carroll 13, Bishop McDevitt 1 - Evan Harvey homered and drove in five runs and Matt Lafferty had a double and a homer and drove in four runs to lead the visiting Patriots (6-3, 3-2 PCL Blue) to the easy victory.

Softball

Lansdale Catholic 10, Neumann-Goretti 0 –Bridey Harkins, Kristin Szczepaniak and Alicia Kradzinski all hit home runs as the Lansdale Catholic softball team rolled past Neuman-Goretti 10-0 in six innings in a Philadelphia Catholic League contest Tuesday.

Ashley Seal struck out 10 in collecting the shutout victory for the Crusaders (6-2, 5-0 league).

Kradzinski was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Greta Sheridan went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

LC hosts West Catholic 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
