BASEBALL: Holy Ghost Prep blanks Christopher Dock

Left-hander Jake Connor kept the Christopher Dock baseball team’s offense quiet, while the visiting Firebirds used four runs in the second inning and another six in the fifth to hand the Pioneers an 11-0 Bicentennial Athletic League loss in five innings Thursday afternoon.

“He had good off-speed and everything, mixed it up, but we’ve seen probably four of five lefties this year,” said Dock freshman Tim DiLoreto of Connor. “So I just think, all-and-all, we weren’t in it today.”

Christopher Dock (0-5, 0-4 league) collected just three hits off the Holy Ghost Prep southpaw — all singles, with two coming for DiLoreto. The Firebirds (6-1, 5-0), meanwhile, got started early with a run in the top of the first, then took a 5-0 lead thanks to a four-run second capped by Tim Brennan’s two-run single.
