MLB: Phillies bats stay hot, top Mets
PHILADELPHIA – Two days ago the Phillies were losers of five of their first seven games, worried sick about Roy Halladay, appearing lackluster offensively, and unable to get any of their early-inning relievers to put a bandage on a paper cut, let alone stop the bleeding in a pivotal inning.
Then Cliff Lee carved up the Mets Tuesday, and Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park the Phillies got their first six batters on base, with Chase Utley and Domonic Brown home runs getting them well on their way to a 7-3 victory.
