SOFTBALL: Archbishop Wood eases past Bishop McDevitt

Scoring six runs in the first inning got Archbishop Wood (6-3, 5-2) off to a quick start against league opponent Bishop McDevitt (1-5). The quick start would soon turn in to complete game as the Vikings would go on to win 10-0 with a five-inning mercy rule.

McDevitt had struggles both offensively and defensively, recording only two hits and nine strikeouts for the game and committing seven errors, at least one in each inning.

“We have to practice harder, practice our fielding, and just keep working hard,” McDevitt coach Dee D’Aulerio said. “I think their pitcher pitched a really good game and we need to work on our hitting. It was a combination of both.”
