BASEBALL: Jenkintown rolls past Phil-Mont Christian

Montgomery Media / BOB RAINES Jenkintown's Mike McKernan just beats the throw to Phil-Mont Christian first baseman Alex Powidzki during Wednesday's Bicentennial League action.
Jenkintown batted around its order in the first inning en route to putting up four runs in the frame. The four-run lead would be more than enough for pitcher Mike McKernan as the Drakes pounded the ball for an 11-0 mercy-rule victory over Phil-Mont Christian in a Bicentennial League match up.

Jenkintown had consistent offense throughout the game scoring at least two runs in all four at-bats the team had.

“We were just trying to be smart, have good at bats, good situational hitting, making sure that we’re making their pitcher earn each out, making their team earn each out,” Jenkintown coach George Vafiadas said. “I think our guys did a nice job of staying composed, and did a nice job at the plate and on the bases.”
