BOYS LACROSSE: Hatters battle past CB East

Hatboro-Horsham coach John Kurek has been with the Hatters for all 12 years of the program’s existence. During that time, the Hatters had never beaten their archrival, Central Bucks East, in the first head-to-head matchup of the season between the two teams.

So when the Hatters were able to defeat the Patriots on Thursday night – a few weeks after the initial meeting between the two squads was canceled due to snow of all reasons – it was rather fitting for Hatboro-Horsham.

“I’ve been around for the whole program since the start,” Kurek said. “We’ve never beaten East the first time. It was always the second time. It’s somehow ironic that this happened this way.”

Those words came from an ecstatic Kurek minutes after he watched his team play to an 8-5 win over CB East in a battle of unbeaten Suburban One Continental Conference teams under the lights at Hatboro-Horsham High School.
