GIRLS LACROSSE: Mount St. Joseph holds off Gwynedd Mercy Academy
It’s hard enough to beat a tough opponent, but when both teams have to deal with stifling heat, it just presents that much more of a challenge. Although both sides fought hard for a win, quality was going to show through and Mount St. Joseph simply had more than Gwynedd Mercy Academy.
Mount held off a second-half comeback to down GMA 11-7. Led by Olivia Gannon’s hat trick, the Magic used a 6-2 halftime lead and goals in the second half to hold off a feisty GMA squad. The Monarchs scored five goals in the second stanza to make it interesting, but the comeback fell short.
