BASEBALL: McGlade, Chelts outduel Scafidi, Spartans

Montgomery Media / BOB RAINES Cheltenham's Jack McGlade prepares to release a pitch during Tuesday's Suburban One American Conference game against Springfield.
Springfield pitcher Anthony Scafidi went the distance, tossing seven innings while allowing just one earned run in what was an excellent start for the right-hander. Unfortunately, for Scafidi and the Spartans, Cheltenham pitcher Jack McGlade was just a tad better.

McGlade pitched into the seventh inning, striking out four without allowing a run in what ended up being a 4-1 win for Cheltenham over the Spartans in a Suburban One American Conference meeting at Springfield on Tuesday afternoon.

After dropping their first league game of the year to Springfield, 7-3, several weeks ago, the Panthers (7-3, 6-2) corrected some of the mistakes they made, and took advantage of several costly errors made by the Spartans which led to most of Cheltenham’s offense.
