BASEBALL: Myers, Pennridge topple Souderton

For Montgomery Media / SUSAN KEEN Pennridge's Evan Myers follows through on a pitch during Monday's Suburban One Continental Conference game against Souderton.
Both Pennridge and Souderton entered Monday’s Suburban One Continental Conference contest with matching 2-2 records in the league. The Indians found themselves in good position in the top of the first inning when they hung three runs on Pennridge ace Evan Myers. They would be the only runs Myers surrendered for the rest of the game.

“Obviously [our confidence] was high when you come out of the gate against one of the better pitchers in the league [in] Evan,” Souderton coach Mike Childs said.

“Give them credit they came out, swung the bats in that first inning against our top pitcher for the past two years,” Pennridge coach Tom Nuneviller said. “After that first inning it was like ‘whoa, what’s going to happen here? Do we have to make a change right away, but then Evan made some adjustments, and went in there and did a great job.”
