SOFTBALL: Johnson lifts Hatters past North Penn

When two excellent pitchers square off, hits and runs are going to be rare. Luckily for Hatboro-Horsham, Carlie Johnson came to the rescue.

In two outstanding outings by H-H’s Nicole Casagrand and North Penn’s Jackie Bilotti, Johnson knocked in the only two runs of the game for the Lady Hatters in a 2-1 victory over the Maidens in a Suburban One Continental matchup. Casagrand outduelled Bilotti, throwing a complete game allowing just one run and striking out five. Bilotti also tossed a complete game, striking out four in the process.

“It was a great game,” H-H coach Joe DiFilippo said. “Luckily things bounced our way and we scratched a couple runs across. North Penn is a good team; they’ll be around in the end.”
