GIRLS BASKETBALL: Picard leads Souderton past CB South

For Montgomery Media / MARK C. PSORAS Souderton's Bianca Picard cuts between Central Bucks South defenders for a basket during Friday's District One Class AAAA playoff action.
A tremendous second-half effort, particularly on the defensive end, pushed the Souderton Area girls basketball team to a 51-37 win over rival Central Bucks South in the opening round of the District One Class AAAA Tournament Friday night.

The Big Red’s inspired play gave the program its first playoff win in coach Lynn Carroll’s nine years at the helm, which has included five trips to the postseason.

The win sends the Indians to a second-round matchup with either North Penn or Upper Merion on Tuesday.
