GIRLS BASKETBALL: North Penn rolls over Pennridge
With their head coach hospitalized with a broken ankle and their leading scorer sidelined with an injury, the North Penn girls basketball team was able to go out and battle past Pennridge 47-19 Thursday night to earn at least a share of the Suburban One’s Continental Conference title.
Central Bucks West needs to win at home Friday against last-place Hatboro-Horsham to earn a share of the title with North Penn.
Junior Erin Maher was a consistent force for the Maidens, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to help North Penn get a piece of its first conference crown since winning the SOL’s Patriot Division back in 1996.
"I was born in 1996," Maher said with a smile, "so this feels awesome. It means a lot. The last two years, we didn’t get as far as we wanted to, so even though we’re sharing it, it feels great to have the conference."
