GIRLS BASKETBALL: Phil-Mont comes up short of upset at Delco Christian
Delco Christian hosted Phil-Mont Academy in a Bicentennial Athletic League semifinal playoff match up. The game came down to the final seconds and possessions of the game ending with a near half court heave by Phil-Mont point guard Katie Siebert that went begging and saw Delco advance by the slimmest of margins, 33-30.
Delco never trailed, but poor shooting by the Knights and aggressive rebounding by the Falcons allowed Phil-Mont to remain within striking distance, never getting down more than 10 points in the contest.
“As any league semifinal game is going to be, it’s going to be a tough game and we didn’t expect anything different out of Phil-Mont,” Knights coach Mark Weaver said. “The matchups were not favorable for us inside. They are a lot bigger than us and a lot stronger than us, so we knew we would struggle.”
