BOYS BASKETBALL: Haverford School ousts ANC

Although Academy New Church would have loved to win in the first round of the PAISAA playoffs, lack of size and experience forced the Lions had to settle for an early exit.

The Haverford School bounced ANC out of states with a 76-58 win. The Lions fought hard in the second half, but they could not recover from a 21-6 Haverford run in the first quarter. They were within 20 at halftime, but time was not on their side and they simply ran out of gas.

“We pressed well and fought hard throughout the game,” ANC coach Kevin Givens said. “It was a great effort, blood, sweat and tears. I’m really proud of how they played in the game and how they have played this season. We were outsized and we are young, but they played their hearts out.”
