GIRLS BASKETBALL: Boyertown topples Wissahickon

Not qualifying for the Pioneer Athletic Conference Final Four girls basketball playoffs was not the way Kaitlyn Eisenhard and Kaitlyn DeHaven thought their senior seasons at Boyertown would unfold.

But the heartbreak of barely missing the PAC-10 postseason for the second straight season has given way to a sense of determination and motivation for Eisenhard, DeHaven and their teammates.

Friday night, the Bears bounced back from the disappointing end of their regular season to thump Wissahickon, 52-33, in a District 1 Class AAAA Tournament opener at BASH Gymnasium.

The 6-foot-1 Eisenhard had game-highs of 13 points and eight rebounds and the 5-foot-10 DeHaven scored 10 points and keyed a game-changing second-quarter run as the No. 7 seed Bears (17-7) advanced to Wednesday’s second-round contest (at home) against 10th seed Garnet Valley, a 50-48 victor over Downingtown East in double overtime.
