GIRLS BASKETBALL: Jenkintown tops Plumstead, claims Constitution title

Senior Night is special throughout high school basketball, but Jenkintown’s will be one that everyone involved in the program will remember. Not only did the Lady Drakes win big and seniors Emma Dillon, Sarah Owens, Tori Contoudis and Sarah Owens get recognized, but the win clinched the Bicentennial League Constitution crown that the seniors have been striving for since their freshman year.

“We have been working so hard this season,” Dillon said. “Last year we were so close and it feels good to bring back the title and add to the banner finally.”

Jenkintown won a fairly routine 43-19 contest against Plumstead Christian. Led by Dillon’s 10 points, the Lady Drakes put Plumstead in a 10-point hole after one quarter and the Lady Panthers could not dig themselves out. Although Jenkintown scored a lot of points, the defense was really on point the entire game, holding Plumstead to four single-digit quarters. The most the Lady Drakes defense allowed was eight points, which came in the second quarter. Jenkintown’s biggest period was the 17-point third.
