GIRLS BASKETBALL: Wissahickon eases past Upper Moreland

By Nick Iuele

Being at a size disadvantage and getting off to a slow start is a recipe for disaster for any team. Upper Moreland fell victim to both in its game against Wissahickon.
“The first half killed us,” Upper Moreland coach Ed Decker said. “I was a little disappointed with the way we came out, especially after a big win. I thought they’d be a little more fired up.”
The Lady Trojans ran out in front in the first half and never looked back, downing Upper Moreland 51-24 in a Suburban One American Conference clash. The game was effectively over after the first two quarters, as Wissahickon took a 27-5 lead into halftime. Led by Dominique Earland’s 13 points and a solid defensive effort by the entire team, Wissahickon won in dominant fashion.
