WRESTLING: Pennridge falls short of Garnet Valley

For Montgomery Media / MARK C. PSORAS Pennridge's Josh Stencler controls Garnet Valley's Mark Morey in their 182-pound match Thursday at Wissahickon.
The middle did in the Pennridge wrestling team Thursday night.

The No. 20 seed Rams found success in the light and heavy weights against No. 13 Garnet Valley, but dropped six of seven bouts between 126 and 170 pounds — including two major decisions and two pins — to fall 32-31 to the Jaguars in the District One Class AAA Duals Tournament first round at Wissahickon High School.

“They’re real tough in the middle, they’ve got some real, real good guys. So, we knew we were going to take them down low and take them up,” Pennridge coach Dan Goetter said. “And that’s what I told them coming in, we needed bonus out of the big guys. The way it fell, our big guys were coming up last and they knew all they had to do was stay off their back.”
