BOYS BASKETBALL: Souderton slips past Hatboro-Horsham

For Montgomery Media / SUSAN KEEN Souderton's Carter Knight pushes the ball past Hatboro-Horsham's jack Lavery during Tuesday's Suburban One Continental Conference game.
Unlike the first meeting this season between the Hatboro-Horsham and Souderton boys basketball teams, the coaching story line took a back seat to a game between the first and second place teams in the Suburban One Continental Conference.

If the Indians had any ideas of hopping the Hatters for a conference crown, a win on Tuesday was a must.

“I felt the first game when we played them it was kind of my fault,” Indians coach and former Hatters assistant Pete Chimera said. “Going back to the place where I coached for six years I do not think I coached a great game. Tonight these kids responded.”

The Indians’ Austin Murphy collected a loose ball off a missed Mike Brown free throw in the final minute of action. The senior sent an outlet pass to junior Brendan Wagner, who dipped an elbow around one defender and tallied the two points to give his team the eventual 49-46 win.
