BOYS BASKETBALL: Cooney powers La Salle past Archbishop Wood

It took some time for La Salle’s offense to get anything going. In fact, it took the Explorers nearly five full minutes of play to get their first basket. But once La Salle – specifically, senior Pat Cooney – found its stride, everything went the Explorers’ way.

During a 19-1 La Salle run between the first and second quarters, Cooney drained a trio of three-pointers and recorded 13 points, helping the Explorers to run away with the game early on in what was a 47-39 win over Philadelphia Catholic League rival Archbishop Wood at La Salle on Friday night.

Cooney finished with a game-high 20 points and Amar Stukes had an all-around impressive game to lead La Salle to the win in front of an over-packed gym.
