GIRLS BASKETBALL: Abington falls to Bensalem in overtime

After a 15-minute late start, a 10-minute second half delay after a fire alarm was pulled, four full quarters of play and an overtime period which took the game down to the final second, things ended with controversy.

Following an undefeated record in league play in its first six games, Abington saw its Suburban One National Conference winning streak ended after a highly questionable call was made with 2.6 seconds remaining on the clock.

After the Lady Ghosts missed a game-winning shot attempt in the final moments of overtime, Bensalem’s Ashida Cooper came down with the rebound. As Cooper fell to the ground, two Abington players reached for the ball in what appeared was going to produce a jump ball call.
