Her team down two points with just five seconds left Monday night, Lansdale Catholic girls basketball coach Heather Glemser had no doubts about putting the ball in the hands of Mary Kate Brokans.
Unfortunately for the Crusaders, visiting Pennsbury made sure it never left the senior’s grasp.
With a chance to force overtime or claim the win, Brokans was unable to get off a shot before time expired and the Falcons held on to earn the 51-49 non-league victory.
“I wished I had the shot back, just because it was five seconds,” Brokans said. “I just wish I got a shot off to get a chance.”
Brokans had eight of her team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter as Lansdale Catholic (2-7, 0-1 Philadelphia Catholic League) tried to rally from a seven-point deficit early in the period but ended up losing its fifth straight.
