GIRLS BASKETBALL: CB West topples North Penn in Continental showdown

It was a post-game speech the North Penn girls basketball team did not have to hear this season prior to Friday night’s showdown with Central Bucks West. With first place in the Suburban One Continental Conference on the line, the Bucks handed the Maidens their first loss of the season.
The 58-47 loss was the first conference loss since the last time the Maidens faced the Bucks almost 365 days ago.
The Bucks used their quickness to not only get out on offense, but to bounce between the passing lanes on defense. The Maidens wanted their senior forward Lauren Crisler to touch the ball in the post as often as possible, but the Bucks’ double-down defense denied easy buckets.
“The way we were throwing the ball around it did not matter where we put Lauren,” Maidens coach Maggie deMarteleire said. “We still have a lot of work to do. But, we would rather have the loss now than later on.”
